Sweltering Saturday

After a lie-in and a visit to the barber I return to a sun-baked garden. It's hot today.

The missus has provided shade for the goldfish, also enjoyed by the neighbours' cat which probably came round for a drink from the basin.

Sitting in the shade, I fixed the starting mechanism of the lawnmower again (see earlier post), which had become stuck. (For the technically minded: when you pull the starter cable, two claws come out of a central hub to engage in holes on an outer hub that then moves the driveshaft and starts the engine. Those claws had become stuck somehow, but were released as soon as I opened up the mechanism ta add lubrication.)

The missus took an old camping gas burner outside (from our first camping trip to Normandy in the late eighties) and baked up some potatoes and hamburger patties which tasted delicious.

A lovely sunset seen from the garden over after-dinner drinks.
