Friday evening

 

It's getting dark outside, we're lighting up inside. It's sixish PM on Friday evening.
The start of the weekend, the most promising moment of the week!

Soup

The missus makes absolutely delicious chicken soup. In copious quantities so we're good for well into the weekend. Yum!

Stew

Cold weather fare par excellence: sauerkraut stew. With mashed potato, a dash of white wine and lots of smoked bacon and smoked Gelderland sausage. It may not look like much but it seriously fortifies the system!

 

 

Fog

Snow's gone, a few frozen leftover chunks excepted. But there's been fog for a number of days now, even thicker than in the pictures here. Like snow it lowers traffic and dampens noise outside so it's nice and quiet. And very cosy inside.

Cosy

The cold outside makes for extra cosyness inside. The fire is nice and warm. And mesmerising to watch. (photo from 2004)

 

Snow

A white blanket arrived over dinner. Looking lovely as snow always does.

It was 10°C yesterday so temperatures are all over the place...

Let's see how long it stays, because warmer weather is promised soon again.

The next morning the warm reflection from inside contrasts with the cold beauty outside.

  

 

 

The snow hadn't frozen yet, so it was easily wiped off the old Alfa, which then managed to slither up the hill without too much of a fuss.

Saturday Chore

Cold outside today. So out comes the old Singer and let's get through some textile repairs. Turning round the worn collar on a treasured shirt will keep it presentable for another decade or so.

The tree went out the window off the balcony; the lights and ornaments are boxed away for another year.
