Garden Fair

We went to the Jardins d'Aywiers fair held in the grounds of a former abbey in Lasne.

The gardens themselves are lovely in their own right.

The nuns had an orchard and vegetable garden, which now provide a beautiful backdrop to the fair.

There's an enormous choice of plants and small trees as well as tools and furniture and accessories (as well as some dreadful kitsch) to be found at this fair, held twice a year. This magnificent Acacia sadly wasn't for sale however - a participant had bought it for himself and told me I was one of many asking to buy it from him.

The missus always likes perusing the expensive country fashion on show. She has a lovely Irish tweed jacket that she tried on at a previous fair, which I was then lucky in finding on the internet, brand-new for a third of the price.

The local beer is named after the saint who founded the abbey, and is very nice indeed.
