Trains and Tower

Up at the crack of dawn, all packed and waiting for the Eurostar to London. As ever I use my WW2 Medium Kit Bag, nicely stamped for issue to the US Army Air Force. It's sturdy and packs an enormous lot (on the way back it was filled to capacity with souvenirs and a pillow and other stuff my eldest had in a carrier bag and stuffed into this one to save on luggage storage costs). Whoever stenciled it at the time made an error by first doing the number 26, then blacking that out and adding the correct 29.

And we're off. Eurostar is quick and connections by Underground in London are fabulous as ever (Londoners complain but they don't know how well they're served).

Our youngest wanted to visit the Tower of London so that's what we did. Admired the Crown Jewels, ancient suits of armour as well as the historic setting. And the traditional crows (London Shard in background).

After also visiting Camden Market we made our way to Paddington Station for the train to Oxford. Which by coincidence was named after the bear that's named after the station. (Note traditional thumb in front of camera.)

crow - corbeau - kraai
bear - ours - beer
